Introduction to bagoven20

I. about me

My name is Loreto Bagio, an electronics and communications engineer by profession and a Filipino (Pilipino, by newer or more politically (?) correct local rendition). Currently, I work as a Biomedical Electronics and Instruments Maintenance Engineer with the King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for about five years now.

I am 37 years of age being born 1969 in a hospital in Manila. Married with three kids, my wife’s name is Athena Falloria, an Ilocana who hailed from Panan in Botolan, Zambales (at the foot of Mt. Pinatubo yet also facing the sea). My eldest kid is Winona (age 9), second is Alanis (age 7) and youngest John Henry (age 4).

I named my first child (nicknamed Naning) after my most favorite Hollywood movie star during college (Winona Ryder) and the second after a favorite lady singer during my early 20’s (Alanis Morissete). John Henry (dearly called Tut-toy) was named after the proponent of the Electrical Inductor theory (i.e. Joseph Henry) and my work with Pulse Philippines, Inc. was influential in that. You may see pictures of my kids and wife here at Athen's Multiply site.

My genetics is somehow varied within the Philippine scene since my father is a Bisayan (a Kinaray-a) from Antique. While my mother was (she is now dead) a Bikolana from Camalig, Albay at the foot of Mt. Mayon.

I and all of my three siblings grew up in Malabon (now a city) which was initially a part of the province of Rizal and then later by the then newly-formed Metropolitan Manila Area (or the National Capital Region of the Philippines). Malabon has been dubbed as the ‘Atlantis of the Philippines’ due to its usual floods and supposedly sinking land level. I finished my elementary school and lived there until I was 22. While there I traveled to and fro and did my high school at Torres High School in Tondo, Manila. Then got my ECE from the University of Santo Tomas in Espana St., Sampaloc, Manila. Supposedly UST is the oldest university in the Far east or in the whole of Asia.

II. more (about me)

I wrote a summary of my activities (college and later jobs) at the yahoogroup of my high school classmates http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ths85 and I titled it as “A Bugs Life” since most people in high school, college and later jobs call me by the seemingly Americanized shortening of my surname (i.e. ‘Bags’ from Bagio). After almost 20 years I found that many of them are still in touch with each other and it seems that I was one of those who have been out of the scenery.

It is good that I’ve written it (my narrative) there (that high school yahoogroup) since it is a closed circle/group and with them (and a few other groups) I always felt free and careless and I can divulge even those so-called darker or mischievous moments. Well, some of the confided items may hurt my other relations. Anyway maybe I can always write a disclaimer later (if caught and confronted). Joke….

III. precisely about bagoven20.

Bagoven20 is the name of my new (and I put at the cover “alleged”) electronic activity website. As of now I haven’t considered it as official since I haven’t found a suitable permanent web host for such. As of the moment I am trying out several free web providers and taking a look if they are fair enough or how better are the alternative offers of those who sell web spaces for a fee. Maybe later I consider being independent (i.e I become an ISP) if my money and level of expertise allows.

I have been using the username ‘bagoven20’ for so many years now. Used also bagoven in emails. Now might as well use it in a personal website.

Now I use bagoven20 as a website of about twenty favorite items in my journey of life in time and space. Bagoven20 is my “New Veneration” or in Tagalog “Ang Bagong Benerasyon”.

To clarify (since appearance can be deceiving), this is not a cult or worship of Venus. I just use symbolisms and poetry to express my obsessions with Beauty and Wisdom, beauty in wisdom and wisdom in beauty.

But maybe this is my personal religion, or science or way of life/thinking. And maybe people can see terrible flaws in my character or think of me as some pervert and I may not be able to do something about that (thinking). But this is me and maybe while I move some people can relate.

And I’m still open for suggestions, advises, encouragements or any other reactions. Anyway, all in all everything is related. And conversely an action can be triggered by your reactions.
